About Phoebus
Classical foundations. Modern judgement. A deeply personal standard of care.
Classical foundations. Modern judgement. A deeply personal standard of care.
Phoebus Ye Tian is an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner working in private practice in London. His approach brings together formal Chinese medical training, hospital experience, teaching and close one-to-one care.
Professional path

A practice built over time.
Phoebus first encountered acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the age of thirteen. That early curiosity became formal study at Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, followed by two years in a hospital orthopaedics unit.
He later joined an international teaching exchange in the UK and taught at London South Bank University, supervising students, lecturing and contributing to seminars at European universities. Today, that combination of clinical practice and teaching informs a method that is precise, explanatory and attentive to the person behind the presentation.
His foundational training draws on the classical literature of the Huangdi Neijing and Nanjing. It is complemented by experience in Master Tung’s acupuncture, Balance Method acupuncture, Toyohari Japanese acupuncture, Saam Korean acupuncture and modern anatomical approaches. Techniques are selected for clinical fit—not novelty.
Lineage
The lineages behind the practice.
Beyond formal medical training, Phoebus's clinical method carries several living traditions, each absorbed at first hand.
- Herbal medicine
Liu Qin (刘勤)
Heilongjiang, China
Phoebus’s herbal medicine is rooted in the Yin-nourishing (Ziyin) school. Through an apprenticeship alongside his university training, he studied with Professor Liu Qin — honoured as one of Heilongjiang’s provincially recognised eminent physicians of Chinese medicine, a master of the Ziyin school, and an heir to the lineage of Pu Fuzhou (蒲辅周), one of twentieth-century China’s most celebrated physicians. That formative influence shaped Phoebus’s academic outlook, and still informs how he approaches fertility, women’s health and long-term restoration.
- Pulse acupuncture
Fu Songqing (傅嵩青)
Osaka, Japan
Phoebus practises the Nanjing-classic tradition of pulse acupuncture: read the pulse, place a needle, read the pulse again — an exacting, remarkably gentle discipline in which the body’s own response guides every step of treatment. He trained in this lineage with Fu Songqing, the Nanjing-trained doctor and former cardiac surgeon whose Osaka practice has drawn practitioners from across Asia and Europe, and who serves as vice-president of the pulse research committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
- Structural treatment
Lin Liang-Chuan (林兩傳)
Taiwan
Phoebus’s structural work draws on the method of the Taiwanese physician Lin Liang-Chuan, which reads the body’s fascia, joints and skeletal alignment as one continuous, tension-bearing system. Refined through study with Dr Lin, it is less a technique for pain than a way of understanding how the body’s structure organises symptoms of many kinds — applied here from persistent musculoskeletal patterns to posture, breathing and facial acupuncture.
These lineages are why patients often describe treatment here as unusually gentle, precise and considered — techniques refined over decades, passed on in person, and practised daily.
